Clifford William Jones played club rugby for many teams but is most associated with Cardiff and Cambridge University. Jones was known as quick and elusive runner, but he was also noted for his numerous injuries which limited his international and club appearances (he managed only 22 games for Cardiff, mainly due to injuries sustained on the pitch). Porth born, he was a product of Welsh Schools and Llandovery College and gained 13 caps for Wales between 1934 and 1938. He also represented the Barbarians against East Midlands in the 1937 Mobbs Memorial game. After his playing days were over, Jones remained in rugby, becoming a National Selector in 1980/81 and later becoming President of the WRU. Cliff Jones received an OBE for services to rugby.
