Ivor Williams - Back row

Ivor Williams was a back row forward and made his Cardiff debut during the 1931-2 season. The majority of his appearances at Arms park were doing the 1937-8 season, when he was awarded his club cap and played in the Welsh Trial. Although not being selected for Wales he finished the season as a Lion, being selected for the tour to South Africa. First appearing for the famous side in the second warm-up game against Griqualand West, which the tourists won 22-9, he went on to play in six further games for the Lions, all of which they won barring the final game of the Tour against Western Province Country - they fell to a narrow 12-7 defeat in that encounter. Sadly he did not make the test team.
Ivor moved to England and died in Oxshott, Surrey in 1983.
