Douglas Marsden Jones was born in Swansea and played for Cardiff and London Welsh. He gained two Welsh caps, making his debut in 1921 against England, and then being selected three years later against New Zealand. In 1924 he toured with British Isles team to South Africa, playing two test matches. After leaving Cardiff he continued his rugby career with London Welsh captaining the team for several seasons.
Awarded the CBE in 1952, he passed away in London in 1955 at the age of 62.
Note – There is some confusion over the name with some records showing the name as Marsden Douglas Jones whilst others show him as Douglas Marsden-Jones. Research shows this to be the same person.
