Malcolm Davies was born in January 1926 in Cwmfelin, Maesteg and took up rugby in 1948 after a short stint with the Police. His first senior games came at Penarth before he joined Maesteg - where he scored 40 tries in his first season. After an unsuccessful stint at Cardiff in 1949 - 50 (3 tries in 8 games) he returned to Maesteg racking up 85 tries in 104 appearances for the Old Parish.
In the 1952 - 53 season he joined rugby league side Leigh and then signed for Bradford Northern for £750. A year later he signed for Leeds for £3,000 but his form had deserted him and was sold back to Bradford Northern. When his rugby career was over he moved to Barry with his wife where he established a glass and china wholesalers on the High Street, Barry. He became involved with Sully Community Council (serving some time as chairman) and Vale of Glamorgan Council Malcolm Davies passed away in February 2011at the age of 85.
