Captain’s Corner Jason Harries Previews RGC meeting

Cardiff RFC begin their 2025/26 Super Rygbi Cymru season tomorrow afternoon in Colwyn Bay against Rygbi Gogledd Cymru 1404.

Jason Harries who played his 40th game for the club against Esher RFC in the Blue and Blacks’ final pre-season match will lead the side for the second consecutive game.

“Everyone is raring to go and start the SRC campaign,” began Harries.

“We’re excited to get up to North Wales and we’re anticipating a tough fixture.

It’s not an easy place to go so we’re going to have to be on it from minute 1 – 80 to get a result.

“We’re looking forward to starting the SRC season this weekend away to RGC.

“We’ve had a good, tough pre season and ended it with two pre-season games against St Albans and Esher respectively.

“We’ve seen a lot of youth take the field over those two games and gained a lot of experience playing for Cardiff. We’ve built a good group this year and we’re excited to get going on Saturday.”

On what he is expects from RGC, Harries continued: “Having played them 3 times over the course of last year, we understand how they play and defend.

“We’ve concentrated a lot on us during pre season and that will be no different come Saturday.

“If we can implement our game plan and nullify RGC, then I’m confident we can get a positive result.

“It would be a great start for us to get that result on the road for our first game which will give us confidence moving into the first block of games.

“It’s important to hit the ground running and we’ll do everything possible to come home with a result,” concluded Harries as he hopes his side make it back-to-back opening day wins in North Wales.
