Passing of Dennis Gethin

The club is saddened to hear the news of the death of former player Dennis Gethin. Dennis was a fullback and played for Seven Sisters, Swansea, Neath, Cardiff and Glamorgan Wanderers, playing 109 games for Cardiff between 1966 and 1971. He was a popular fullback with the club and in 1969 scored 199 points to equal the club record that had stood since 1894. Whilst studying law at Cambridge University he won two rugby ‘Blues’. He retired from rugby at a comparatively young age to concentrate on his career as a Solicitor.

Dennis was secretary of the Welsh Rugby Union between 1998 and 2002 and was made president of the Union in 2007.
