William Edward Norman Davis was born in Aston, Birmingham in September 1913. War caused a move to Cardiff and was educated at Cardiff High School - later playing for their Old Boys team.
He was known to everyone as Wendy (due to his initials) and joined Cardiff in 1934 soon establishing himself in the first team player. In 1938 - 9 he was vice captain to Wilf Wooller and in the same season gained 3 caps for Wales. During WW2 he played another 5 times for Wales in the Red Cross and Wartime Internationals and represented the British Army. Wendy also played 5 games for the Barbarians and occasionally appeared for Penarth.
He died in Cirencester, Gloucestershire in 2002 aged 89.
