Cardiff RFC are delighted to announce the signing of Isaac Marsh for the 2026/27 Super Rygbi Cymru season.
Marsh, who featured in the Blue and Blacks’ final pre-season contest at Astley Park against Brixham RFC, joins the club ahead of the first home game of the season against Swansea RFC on Saturday (KO: 18:00).
On signing the exciting backline player, Rugby Manager Iestyn Williams said: “Isaac is an exciting young player and someone we’re really pleased to have brought into the group.
“For such a young man, he has a really impressive knowledge and understanding of the game. He’s a ball-playing 12 who likes to get his hands on the ball, make decisions and bring the players around him into the game.
“That really suits the way we want to play at Cardiff, and we believe there’s plenty more development to come from him. The fact that Isaac lives in Cardiff is another positive.
“He knows the area, he wants to be here, and he understands what it means to represent a Cardiff club. We want to create an environment where young players can develop, enjoy their rugby and ultimately establish themselves at this level.
“For Isaac, hopefully this is just the beginning of a long playing career with Cardiff RFC. We’re looking forward to helping him develop, giving him opportunities and seeing how far he can go.
“He’s a young man with a lot of potential, but importantly, he also has the right attitude and willingness to learn. We’re excited to see him get started.”
Marsh heads to the Arms Park after playing in the English Premiership for Gloucester Rugby and representing Cardiff Met in both BUCS Super Rugby and the Welsh Premiership.
He also spent part of last season with Hartpury RFC in the English Champ, bringing valuable experience to Dan Fish’s squad.
“Cardiff has been my home for the last six years now, first studying here and then settling here, so the opportunity to represent Cardiff RFC feels very special,” said Marsh.
“It’s somewhere I’d like to be and play long term.
“The quality of the playing group and the coaching staff is going to give me a really good opportunity to keep learning and developing my game, which I’m excited for.
“The brand of rugby Cardiff play in particular is something I feel suits my strengths and the way I want to play.
“We get the opportunity to play at the Arms Park on a fast surface, and it’s no secret that’s the brand of rugby we want to be playing.”
Cardiff RFC got their 150th season off to a winning start last Saturday, coming away from Carmarthen Park with a hard-fought 27-17 victory against Carmarthen Quins.
With the Blue and Blacks now looking ahead to their first home game of the season, Marsh spoke about what it means to be part of such a historic season for the club, and the squad’s ambition to make it a special one.
“Cardiff RFC is a very prestigious club with a long, rich history,” Marsh said.
“The staff and the playing squad are bursting with pride whenever they pull on that shirt, and I was fully aware of that before I got here.
“But with it being the 150th year, it has just magnified it even further.
“There’s a real purpose about the place to have a special season, win some silverware and celebrate the club in the way it deserves.”
With the Whites heading to the Welsh capital on Saturday, Cardiff will then face a six-day turnaround, facing Pontypool next Friday before travelling to Ebbw Vale as the Blue and Blacks aim to build on their winning start.
Having claimed the regular season honours twice in consecutive seasons, Marsh is looking forward to getting stuck into the league.
“I’m really excited to play in such a competitive league at a high standard of rugby,” continued Marsh.
“I’m looking forward to experiencing the different challenges the league presents, the different teams you come up against and the different conditions you have to play in.
“Cardiff have finished top of the table the last couple of seasons without going on to win the play-offs.
“So there’s a real drive and hunger to go one step further this year and finish the season as champions.
“Everything we do will be building towards that.”
