Cardiff RFC will travel to Carmarthen Park on Saturday afternoon following back-to-back defeats to start their Super Rygbi Cymru Cup (KO: 14:30).
The Blue and Blacks’ last timeout recorded a 33-19 defeat against Newport RFC last Saturday at the Cardiff Arms Park.
Despite youngster Bailey Cutts scoring twice in the contest, the Black and Ambers fought from 12-0, then 19-5 down to claim the spoils.
“I thought we played well last week and it was unfortunate to end up on the wrong side of the result after leading for the majority of the game,” said Nathan Hudd, who captained his side for the first time last weekend.
Saturday will be the pair’s third meeting of the 2025/26 season, as in Cardiff’s first home game of the season, Carmarthen recorded a remarkable 36-33 win.
This was despite winger Dewi Cross scoring twice, which was accompanied by further scores from Tom Cottle, Gavin Parry, and Lloyd Lucas, who kicked eight points from the tee.
Their last outing against the Quins was in December, live on S4C, when the Blue and Blacks recorded a hard-fought 31-26 win.
That evening saw tries from Ioan Emanuel, Alun Rees, Elijah Evans, and Tom Williams as Dan Fish’s side ended a three-game losing run.
On how challenging playing at Carmarthen Park is, Hudd added: “It’s always a tough place to go, especially if the elements are against you, but we are prepared, and it won’t be used as an excuse.
“It’s a big game for both sides in the Cup as we both need points if we have any aspirations of going into the knockout rounds.
“So it would be massive for us to put a marker down with back-to-back away wins at Carmarthen,” concluded Hudd.
