Cardiff RFC are delighted to confirm the signing of winger Iwan Pyrs-Jones ahead of the 2026/27 Super Rygbi Cymru season.
Pyrs-Jones makes his return to the Cardiff Arms Park having already made an immediate impact during pre-season, scoring a hat-trick against Brixham RFC.
The winger recently made his first appearance for Cardiff since 2022, and will now add further pace, athleticism and experience to the Blue and Blacks’ back-three options ahead of the club’s 150th season.
Rugby Manager Iestyn Williams said on signing the winger: “Iwan is a player we are really pleased to have brought into the squad.
“He’s got a great understanding of the game and has already gained valuable experience playing at a good level with us previously, Pontypridd, Newport, and has represented Cardiff Schools.
“He’s also got over 50 appearances for Wales Sevens under his belt, which speaks volumes about his ability, athleticism and work ethic. That experience will be really valuable for us as we head into the new season.
“We’re looking forward to seeing him back in a Cardiff shirt this season and helping him make his mark as we look ahead to what promises to be an exciting season.”
On joining the club ahead of the new season, Pyrs-Jones said: “It really is good to be back in Cardiff.
“Coming back for the 150th season after having time away from the club is really good. Being from Cardiff, living around the corner from the stadium in Grangetown, I feel like Cardiff was the place I really wanted to be.
“Knowing the coaches and going through the academy system, it’s just really good to see so many familiar faces and get to represent the place I grew up and call home.
“I really appreciate the opportunity I’ve been given to comeback, and to have the option to comeback.
“I am really excited to get stuck in, play with some of my mates that I haven’t played with in a long time and represent Cardiff in the SRC.
“I’m just keen to see what this season holds, as I feel like it’s a really big one for the club and for me personally.
“Showing that I can still compete at that level, and them what I have learnt and developed over the last few years away from the club, and hopefully get some silverware at the end of it.”
