Newport – Cardiff team news

Cardiff travel to Rodney Parade on Saturday in a top of the table clash.

The Blue & Blacks and the Black and Ambers have already met twice this season and this will be the third match of four. Cardiff will be looking to build on last weekend’s result after a bonus point win “it was a top result and performance against Aberavon and a well-deserved victory” said Head Coach Steve Law. “but this week is another huge challenge.  There are lots of changes from the sides we have been putting out over the last three weeks. This is due to well deserved call ups for five of the players who played on Saturday. Rhys Anstey, Theo Cabango, Max Llewellyn, Jacob Beetham and Ellis Bevan have flown out to South Africa for the two URC games, and we wish them all the best.”

“But with change comes opportunity. This is the first of two-consecutive game with Newport, and we will be looking for continuity on the field. The players need to show us that they want the shirt for the cup semi-final against Newport in two weeks time. We know this will be a tough challenge, Newport are riding high in the league and are in very good form at the moment, but if we can produce a performance like last week, we will have a chance of getting something from the game”
