Dear Supporter
Cardiff RFC travelled to Sardis Road for the first game of the season to face local rivals Pontypridd. Cardiff came away with a 19-19 draw which they feel they should have won.
It took the Blue & Blacks a little time to settle into the game and field position was generally in favour of the home side. When Cardiff did have an opportunity, they took it and Dewi Cross went over the whitewash, conversion going just wide but Harrison James made amends with a penalty minutes later. Second half saw Pontypridd come out with all guns blazing but Cardiff’s defence held strong despite having yellow cards given to Nathan Hudd and Freddie Barnes and now down to 13 men. A last-minute try which was not converted saw Pontypridd save their day with a draw.
Next up for the Blue & Blacks saw the visits of RGC and the mighty Ebbw Vale to the Arms Park, with Cardiff winning against RGC 35-17 and losing against Ebbw Vale 20-36.
The visit of Newport, local rivals but good friends, to the Arms Park last Saturday saw the Blue & Blacks come out on top 38-15 in the Indigo Premiership Cup. Tries by Morgan Allen, Luke Pollock, Dewi Cross and Alun Rees and 18 points from the boot of Harrison James saw Cardiff progress to the next round. Could there be another day booked for the Principality Stadium?
Next up is an away trip to Church Bank to face Llandovery on Thursday 28th September which is being streamed by S4C Clic.
