Newport – Cardiff team news

Cardiff travel to Newport on Thursday (19:30) to play the Black and Ambers in a game that will be screened live on S4C Clic

Having recorded 50 points on Saturday last weekend the Blue & Blacks will be looking to continue in the same manner. Speaking ahead of the game Head Coach Steve Law commented “we were very pleased with the performance on Saturday, in fact it was as good as I have seen Cardiff play since my time here. What we need now is to repeat that performance. We don’t want a nine out of ten game one week and then follow that with a four out of ten.

We need to ensure our standards are kept as high as they were against Merthyr. We know it will be a different challenge on Thursday, the field is narrower and Newport will offer us a tough examination, you only have to look at last season where we didn’t beat them in all the games we played against them.

We have a number of changes this week, some due to injury and some giving the squad an opportunity. We know any Newport – Cardiff game will be tough because of the huge history between our two sides, but we are up for the challenge.”
