Cardiff go ‘next door’ to the Principality stadium to play Newport in the Indigo Premiership Cup final on Sunday.
Speaking ahead of the game Head Coach Steve Law said “it is obviously a great occasion with two great sides involved. The team we have picked is a side that has been playing for most of the year and there are a few boys who may have missed out. They will we disappointed but they will be with us on the day supporting the team and celebrating the contribution they have made to getting us here.
We are hugely excited to be playing at the Stadium and are looking forward to the game”
This will be the third meeting between the oldest of rivals, the Blue & Blacks won away at the beginning of the season with the Black and Ambers winning at the Arms Park in January. In the Welsh Cup it is also one win each, Newport winning the final in 1977 with Cardiff taking the cup against the Black & Ambers in 1986. Both games were excellent exibitions of committed rugby and Sunday will no doubt be the same. Newport are the current Cup holders having defeated Aberavon last season
In all Cup final games Cardiff have won the Welsh Cup on 8 out of their 12 appearances, with Newport winning 3 times in 6 finals.
