Dear Supporter
Last season was a very good season for Cardiff RFC by finishing top of the league by 6 points with only 3 losses in the regular season, but the levels did drop in the last few fixtures and Llandovery were worthy champions after winning the play off final at the Arms Park.
And of course, winning the Welsh Cup was another milestone in our amazing season. The final against Newport was such a tense affair but we came out on the right side to bring the cup back to the Arms Park.
From a player development point of view, it was brilliant to see Academy players such as Rhys Barrett, Harrison James, Evan Lloyd, McKenzie Martin, and Ethan Lloyd figure in 21, 23, 16, 11 and 19 games, respectively.
Noticeable how Cameron Winnett, Alex Mann and Efan Daniel played 11, 12 and 11 games as well as senior commitments and with Cam’s case a full U20’s programme.
Players Max Llewellyn, Mason Grady, Kieron Assiratti have represented Wales whilst squad members Will Davies-King and Teddy Williams figured prominently at the start of the season.
We would like to thank the following players for their commitment who have moved on to pastures new, Ethan Lloyd (Merthyr), Ioan Evans (Cornish Pirates), Ryan Wilkins (Pontypridd), Ollie Drake (Pontypool) as well as illustrious retirees Dan Fish and Scott Andrews who both deserve huge recognition. Also, Ellis Thomas who will no longer play due to work commitments and we thank him for his commitment.
Ymlaen Caerdydd

2023/24 new players this season
Winger Jason Harries, centre Luke Pollock (Cardiff Uni), back row Tyler Williams (St Joes), centre Joe Davis (St Peters), outside half Harrison James (RFC contract from Academy), fullback/outside half Richard Powell (Bedwas), scrum half Dai Jones (Cardiff Uni), Freddie Barnes (RFC contract from Academy), Ethan Phillips (Cardiff Uni), Shaun O’Rourke (Glam Wanderers), Johan Hoogendoren (St Peters), Will Gregory (Penallta), Sam Newton (St Peters), Craig Hudd, (Newport).
Cardiff RFC are working closely with our local clubs and giving former pathway players potential opportunities to transfer some of their form in the lower leagues to the challenge of the Welsh Premiership.
Massive boost for Cardiff is that club captain Morgan Allen has decided to stay at the club after turning down lucrative offers elsewhere. Former captain Joey Tomlinson is back after injury curtailed last season early for him.
Senior stresses emphasize the need to recruit in a couple of areas and we have means to do that now, including extra sponsorship support that have worked to bring in what we didn’t have previously.
The rugby delivery will continue to be led by Steve Law working closely with Backs Coach Dan Fish and Defence Coach Craig Everett. Medical team is led by Liam John, combining his work with the Cardiff Pathway working closely with a newly appointed S&C dedicated to Cardiff RFC.
We travelled to Porth Harlequins for a friendly on Thursday 24th August. This was a great opportunity for some game time as well as integrating new players. We are aware we are playing less friendlies than other teams but are considering the bigger picture and the intensity of the season plan alongside the welfare of the core semi-professional group.

Several players were awarded their club caps at the end of a successful season for Cardiff. Nathan Hudd, Ellis Thomas, Dewi Cross, Alun Rees, Rhys Barratt, Joe Goodchild, and Cameron Winnett were presented with their caps by former players Chris Collins and John Huw Williams. Other players to receive their cap are Aaron Pinches, James Harrison, and Tom Habberfield.
There was also a special cap presentation made to the legend Dan Fish to mark an excellent career that saw him make over 100 appearances for Cardiff RFC and appear over 100 time for Cardiff Rugby (Cardiff Blues as they were for most of those games).
Thomas Davies (TD) now with Newport and Joe Tomlinson have also played 100 games for the RFC and they will be presented with the cap in the season ahead.
