Cardiff RFC are delighted to announce the signing of Steff Davies in the back three.
The 23-year-old will return to Wales after playing for English Championship side Coventry.
Davies who in the past described himself as ‘a bit of a late bloomer’ played his junior rugby for Pontypridd. Then fast forward to his playing days in University, midway through his first year he got himself involved with the Cardiff Metropolitan University squad.
During that period he played, fly-half, centre and full-back. Then after completing his degree he moved to Coventry, where he made a mark for the Championship side.
“I’m feeling really chuffed and really pleased to have signed for Cardiff RFC,” said Davies.
“Signing for Cardiff came about after having discussions with my agent about coming back to Wales to play and with Cardiff being one of the top clubs in Wales, a call was set up to discuss signing.
“I haven’t met any of my new teammates yet, however I know the likes of Joe Cowell and Elijah Evans through University and I’m aware they’ve had some game time for Cardiff RFC after coming from the senior side.
“I’ve had a call with Dan Fish and Gruff Rees too and was immediately attracted to the club after seeing their enthusiasm towards myself and the club.”
Davies is the first of a number of signings that the Blue and Blacks will be making this summer, as preparations begin for next seasons Super Rygbi Cymru.
“I am very excited to make my debut in the Super Rygbi Cymru league,” he continued.
“It is a very attractive league and is very well covered through the likes of live streamed games. So I feel it will be a very good league for me to develop in.
“I would describe myself as a running and attacking player. For this season my main goals are going to be around game time and just trying to stay as fit as possible after some nasty injuries over the last few years.
“I think what I’m most excited about this year is to have a fresh start back in Wales, in a new league with a great club.”
