Donoghue-Proud is confirmed

Cardiff RFC are delighted to announce that prospect Callum Donoghue-Proud has signed for the club.

The former Corpus Christi and Cardiff and Vale College student Donoghue-Proud is another example of the Blue and Blacks playing a crucial role in supporting players in the Cardiff Rugby pathway by giving them the opportunities to develop as a player.

On signing Donoghue-Proud, Cardiff RFC head coach Dan Fish said: “Happy to have Callum on board next season, a young tighthead who is still learning on the job.

“He’s had a lot of rugby last season playing for St Albans RFC and helped them achieve promotion.

“Looking forward to him continuing his development this season and look forward to where this journey could go.”

The tighthead has played for Cardiff U18’s and has also trained with the national academy whilst last season continuing to learn his trade with St Albans RFC. He has also represented Cardiff in the inaugural Super Rygbi Cymru League and Cup campaign.

“It is a great feeling to be able to sign with Cardiff RFC, going through the pathway and to get the opportunity to sign the contract is great, there was no second thoughts about it,” said Donoghue-Proud.

“It is my hometown club so for me, from watching Cardiff Rugby or Cardiff RFC down at the Arms Park as a kid and getting the chance to play on the Arms Park, it’s something little me had dreamt about.

“So to me it was a no brainer. There is a good core of lads here and I look forward to learning more off quality players such as Thomas Harper and Alun Rees in the front row. I’m really looking forward to what next season brings, I’m really excited for it.

“I had a taste of what it was like to play for Cardiff RFC last year in the League and the Cup and looking to get a few more games under my belt. I can’t wait.”
