Cardiff RFC entertain Carmarthen Quins this evening at the Cardiff Arms Park, and it will see the Blue and Blacks play their first game home of the season.
For Cardiff they enter the contest off the back of a hard-fought 47-31 victory against Rygbi Gogledd Cymru (RGC) in Colwyn Bay. “Great start away from home for us picking up 6 points on the road,” began Jason Harries who once again leads the side.
“We’re up and running now and that’s the main thing. First half we lacked fire power and gave RGC a foothold in the game.
“It’s a tough place to go and if you keep them in the game they’ll thrive on that.
“We had a clear message at half time and we implemented that to a degree in the second half and slowly took the game away from them.
“Pleased to get the win but a lot to work on.”
The Quins come into the encounter off the back of a dramatic 27-24 defeat against Bridgend Ravens. And, unlike last season’s start, when the Quins entered round two of the SRC after a 39-29 victory against Swansea.
The visitors will be aiming to claim their first victory of the season. If they are to do so, it would be the first time since April 2016 when the West Walians last won in the capital.
“We’ve taken learnings from the RGC game and it’s crucial we come out of the blocks firing Thursday night.
“Yes, it’s great (to be playing back at the Cardiff Arms Park). The boys are looking forward to running out for our first home league game of the season and we’ll be raring to go Thursday night.”
