Cardiff RFC this evening take on Swansea RFC (19:30) at the Cardiff Arms Park as Dan Fish’s side aim to return to winning ways.
The Blue and Blacks enter the contest off the back of a disappointing outing at Rodney Parade against Newport. Whereas the Whites drew 29-29 with Bridgend Ravens at the Brewery Field.
However, that encounter against the Black and Ambers was the first Super Rygbi Cymru (SRC) appearance of the season for Captain Craig Hudd.
“It was great to make my return last week after a long spell on the sidelines with a torn bicep,” began Hudd.
“Really enjoyed being back amongst the team and being involved and not watching from the sideline.
“It was a disappointing result as we have been on a good run of form before the couple of weeks’ break.
“I think the messages were that we didn’t perform well enough first half and gave Newport a 14-point, lead which was too much to bring back in the end.”
Hudd who was announced as the Blue and Blacks’ captain at the end of May after a SRC campaign which saw his side finish the regular season in pole position.
“It was a great honour to be named as captain of this great club in the off-season.
“Unfortunately, through injury, I have been unavailable. I’ve worked hard to get back on the pitch tonight.
“I am really looking forward to leading the team out for the first time as Captain.
“Swansea are a good team and have proved that with the results so far this season.
“They have a lot of threats up front and out wide, and we know it’s going to be a tough battle on Friday night.”
Tonight sees Cardiff begin a period of several key fixtures heading into the festive period.
Next, the Blue and Blacks challenge Rygbi Gogledd Cymru at the Arms Park (December 6th), then an away trip to Carmarthen Park to face Carmarthen Quins (December 11), before facing Bridgend Ravens before Christmas (December 20).
“Look, we are just trying to deal with each game as it comes,” he added.
“We are fortunate to have the next couple of games being at home and are looking to put a performance together against Swansea, which will hopefully end in the result going in our favour.”
