Cardiff RFC continue their 2026/27 campaign this evening as they welcome Pontypool RFC to the Cardiff Arms Park for the latest fixture in their 150th anniversary season (KO: 19:30).
The Blue and Blacks have made a perfect start to the new Super Rygbi Cymru season, recording bonus-point victories against Carmarthen Quins (27-17) and Swansea RFC (49-35) in their opening two matches.
Captain for this evening’s fixture against Pooler, Sean Moore believes the squad still has plenty more to come, after fighting back in both games after falling behind early.
“We can’t argue with two wins to start the season,” said Moore.
“But as a squad we know that we can offer a lot more in terms of performance. We have given both teams a 14-point head start and had to fight our way back into the game.
“So we are looking forward to going out this evening and putting a better team performance in for the full 80 minutes.”
Pontypool will provide another test for the Blue and Blacks, with the Gwent side buoyed by a dramatic 43-41 victory over Llandovery RFC to begin their season, despite suffering a high-scoring 50-38 defeat against Bridgend Ravens in their last outing.
Moore expects a much-improved side after their last encounter against Pontypool, which saw the Blue and Blacks record a 52-20 victory at Pontypool Park.
Ioan Emanuel, Craig Hudd, and Matty Young all claimed braces, with scores from Ethan Lloyd and Osian Darwin-Lewis, while Harri Wilde kicked 12 points.
“It is always a tough game against Pontypool,” continued Moore.
“They have made some good signings over the summer and will be a better team than what they were before.
“They will be wanting to get back to winning ways, and we need to go out and put our best foot forward and look to make it three wins from three.”
