The Blue and Blacks hung on for a bonus point win as they got their first away win of the season after a lot of character was shown.
After both fly halves Harrison James and Luke Price kept the scoreboard ticking by converting penalties, and after being tryless for over 30 minutes in the first half 29-year-old James Beal scored his very first try of the season and crossed the Bridgend line for the first try of the afternoon.
It was the same story for young Harrison James as he managed to cross the Raven’s line for his first try of the season after Cardiff was putting pressure on the home side’s defence.
However, the home side finished the first half on the front foot with former Blue and Blacks player and now captain of Bridgend Zac O’Driscoll crossing the Cardiff line.
After ill-discipline from the Blue and Blacks Player of the Match from last week Craig Hudd was yellow carded by referee Dewi Phillips.
HT: Bridgend 10-20 Cardiff
Even, though Bridgend never led in this game they were definitely willing to leave it all out there on the Brewery Field pitch. With Hudd being in the bin the Ravens took full advantage with outside centre Rhys Williams crossing the line after a brilliant run.
Once Hudd returned back to the field momentum changed and Cardiff were back on the front foot with winger Dewi Cross scoring his fifth of the season after a superb run from replacement Jacob Lloyd who was only on the pitch for less than a minute.
However, it didn’t end here as Cardiff regional player Will Davies-King secured the Blue and Blacks a bonus point.
The home side weren’t going down quietly as former Cardiff player Chris Williams scored on his 200th appearance. There, was a pattern emerging for the Bridgend’s try scores as Hooker and former Cardiff player Evan Yardley scored to secure the home side a losing bonus point.
Up next for the Blue and Blacks is a home game against third-place Pontypool next week.
