Cardiff entertain Ebbw Vale at the Arms Park on Friday night for the second time in a week.
Tomorrow night’s game though will be in the National Cup round two. Defending Champions Cardiff will be looking to book their place in the Quarter Finals whilst the Steelmen will want to reverse last week’s defeat in the Indigo Premiership.
“it will be strange playing the same opposition at the same venue only a week on” said Steve Law ahead of the game “that’s the way the draw went and we are looking forward to the challenge once again. Last week was a tough game as we had expected and I have no doubt this week will be no different a challenge.
We are fortunate to be able to welcome back some of our injured players this week. Tom Habberfield and Sam Beard have been unavailable for various reasons over the last few weeks. We have also made a few changes from last week’s side. That shows there is great completion for places. Peter Lloyd for example is given his opportunity after a few weeks on the bench, and there are plenty of others who have a chance to show what they can do. We are yet to settle on what we feel is out strongest side this season.
Playing in this Cup competition last year showed all of us at Cardiff RFC what a great year that was and I don’t think any of us will forget our day out at the Principality Stadium and the feeling of winning the trophy. We want to repeat that feeling again this season but will have to be at our best tomorrow if we want to progress.”
