Cardiff play Newport in the Indigo Premiership playoff on Sunday (14th – 5:15pm) having finished as teams one and four in the league.
Speaking ahead of the game Head Coach Steve Law said “another huge game and once again it is against our oldest rivals from down the M4. There is obviously everything to play for being a semi-final and we know how close every game against Newport has been this season. The first was a very close finish when they came back at the end of the game. Here we lost by just a point in January, and, of course, the Cup Final was a one score game.
As far as the league goes last week saw a fitting end to the season with the top four all playing each other and any one of three sides could have finished top of the pile. We were happy to see us win to do that against Merthyr. But we need to go again this week and will be without one of our most influential players, Dan Fish. That said it gives an opportunity to Harrison James to step up. He has been in and around the team all season and what a great stage to show what he can do.”
The game had been scheduled for TV but due to events next door the game will not now be shown.
Cardiff RFC and Cardiff Rugby season ticket holders have free entry to the game and should enter the ground via the Gate 3 entrance on Westgate St. For all other tickets please use the Castle St entrance. The ticket office will be open from 12 noon.
