Cardiff RFC – Esher RFC Team News

Cardiff RFC will conclude their pre-season this Saturday afternoon as they host Esher RFC at the Cardiff Arms Park (KO: 3:00 PM).

After cruising to a 66-0 victory against St Albans in their last outing, the Blue and Blacks will be looking to continue the momentum as they take on National League 2 East side, Esher, for only the second time.

Dan Fish’s side comes into the contest on the back of scoring 10 tries against ‘The Buns’ at Tremorfa Park. Ethan Phillips bagged himself a brace whilst debutants Rhodri Morgan, Gruff John-Morris, and Ioan Leyshon also crossed the whitewash.

Christian Brooke crossed over for his first try as a Cardiff RFC player, with Dewi Cross, Joe Goodchild, Ioan Penry, and Ethan Lloyd also scoring. Outside-half Lloyd Lucas converted 16 points from the tee.

Pre-Match Thoughts:

Speaking ahead of the encounter, head coach Fish said: “Looking forward to welcoming Esher to the Arms Park Saturday, our last hit out before the season starts.

“Looking to execute the stuff we have been working on in training.

“We want to build on the good stuff we done against St Albans.

“Couple of senior boys back in the squad so looking forward to seeing them go Saturday.”

Remember the last meeting between the pair?

The last time the Blue and Blacks faced Esher was back in 2013. They faced each other at Molesey Road, Hersham.

Only replacement Johnathon Edwards crossed that afternoon for Cardiff with Ceiron Thomas kicking a penalty and conversion, which resulted in the one and only meeting to date finishing in a 24-10 defeat.
