Cardiff RFC are delighted to confirm, in preparation for the upcoming 2026/27 Super Rygbi Cymru (SRC) season, that we will play both St Albans RFC and Brixham RFC.
The Blue and Blacks kick off their sesquicentennial season at the Cardiff Arms Park as they face St Albans in a pre-season friendly on August 15th (KO: 14:30).
August last year head coach Dan Fish returned to familiar surroundings facing ‘The Buns’ at Tremorfa Park, when Cardiff secured a 66-0 victory.
“We are looking forward to welcoming St Albans to the Arms Park to start our 150th season celebrations,” Fish said.
“It will be a good test for us to see some new combinations and also see some boys playing their first senior game of rugby.
“It worked well for us last season, and I’m sure it promises to be a great day at the Arms Park.”
Then on August 29th (KO: 14:30), Fish’s side travel to Astley Park to face Brixham RFC, who celebrated their 150th anniversary last season.
This fixture against ‘The Fisherman’ will be the first game that the Blue and Blacks have played outside of Wales since 2015, when they travelled to Priory Lane to face Rosslyn Park in a pre-season friendly.
On travelling to Devon, Fish added: “Brixham away will be a good challenge as we don’t know what to expect.
“A new team which we haven’t faced before, so it will be good to see how we can adapt in-game and put our game onto the field.”
Fish also talked about the importance of these two fixtures ahead of the start of their SRC campaign.
“Pre-season is a good time to see us put our principles on the pitch and the areas we have worked on in training,” he said.
“It’s also good to get the boys up to speed and get game-ready for a big start to the season.”
Following their outing on the south coast of England, Fish’s side will then turn their full attention to the upcoming SRC season, which begins with an away trip to face Carmarthen Quins on September 12th.
This is before the back-to-back home matches at the Cardiff Arms Park against Swansea RFC and Pontypool RFC, which is followed by a Thursday night trip to face Ebbw Vale at the beginning of October.
