John Hitchen

The club has received the very sad news that former player John Hitchen passed away last Saturday (September 21st) at the age of 84. John played on seven occasions for the first XV during the 1960/1 season as well as playing for Neath.

John suffered from ill health for a number of years and had  been in a nursing home for the past three years.

After retiring from Rugby, he became a very active member of the Former Players Association and was the Treasurer for a number of years. Due to his extensive service with the FPA the Committee granted Life Membership of the Association to John when his ill health forced his retirement from the Association.

John was a very respected member of the Club and he will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

We send our sincere condolences to his wife Norah and his three sons Michael, Robert and Richard at this very sad time for them.
