Have you visited the Cardiff Museum website recently? Cardiff Rugby Museum
The museum is where you will find a large number of interesting artefacts and items of interest to Cardiff rugby followers. The latest addition to the site is the oral history section containing interviews and reminiscences with some greats of Cardiff rugby. A first addition to the oral history section is an interview with John Scott
John played most of his club rugby in the back row for Cardiff, joining the Blue and Blacks in 1978. Exeter born, he made his Cardiff debut in September 1978 against the East District and during the season he was part of the Blue and Black team that narrowly lost to the All Blacks. The following year he became Cardiff captain and presided over one of the greatest cup periods in the Club’s history. Under Scott’s captaincy Cardiff won the cup on five occasions in the 80s – 1981, 1982, 1984, 1986 and 1987. In all he made 268 appearances being on the winning side 200 times. On the international stage he won 34 England caps, between 1978 and 1984, playing in all four games in England’s 1980 Grand Slam winning team. Inevitably, after such an outstanding career John was inducted into the Cardiff Rugby Hall of Fame.
