Seven departures confirmed

Cardiff RFC this evening can announce the following players will be departing the club this summer. Kodie Stone, Charlie Manship, Marc Thomas, Jared Williams, Benji Williams, Fraser Jones and Josh Thomas.

Head coach Dan Fish said on the departures: “Just like to thank all the players for their time commitment and effort this season.

“Like to wish the boys and their families all the very best in the future on and off the field.  They know that they are always welcome back to the Arms Park and hopefully will see them in the blue and black in the future.”

To begin with, Kodie Stone made his debut for the Blue and Blacks as a 17-year-old whilst still a student at Coleg y Cymoedd. The Wales U18s and 20s star made 22 appearances in total and scored 30 points for the club over the course of two seasons.

Hooker Charlie Manship, who was a Cardiff pathway product, was one of eight signings from last season and will leave the Blue and Blacks after making six appearances. One of the highlights for him was when he bagged a brace against RGC 1404 at the Cardiff Arms Park back in February.

After returning to the Blue and Blacks last summer after a season with Pontypool RFC, Marc Thomas has departed as he made 15 appearances in the inaugural Super Rygbi Cymru (SRC) season and scored on two occasions for Cardiff. In total, the loose-head prop has made 34 appearances since making his Cardiff RFC debut back in 2022.

Sticking in the front row, Jared Williams is another one heading for the exit door at the Arms Park. The three-time British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) Super Rugby finalist with Exeter University will leave Cardiff after making 13 outings as a Blue and Black.

He scored once as a Blue and Black, and this came against RGC 1404 in the SRC Cup. Benji Williams will be departing Cardiff after making 13 appearances and his only scores coming this season against Carmarthen Quins and Swansea RFC.

Up next on the departure list is Fraser Jones who made his debut as a Blue and Black against Porth Harlequins in 2023. He has gone on to make nine appearances and racked up 22 points as a Cardiff player. Lastly, outside-half Josh Thomas is the final departure from this season, as he’ll be joining English Championship side Coventry Rugby.

We wish all players departing the very best of luck in their future endeavours and are always welcome back at the Arms Park.
