The Celtic Cup kicks off at the Arms Park on Saturday when Cardiff Blues A kick off against Leinster A (2:30pm)
Cardiff RFC are supplying 16 contracted players to the squad that will take part in the Celtic Cup. This though will put a strain on resources for the first two Cardiff pre-season games and is not ideal preparation for the run up to the Pontypridd game.
It does though show the positive relationship between Cardiff and the Regional set up, which was a strong as ever last season. The opportunity for our squad players to test themselves against a strong Irish provincial side will be of benefit to all our players.
There are 11 Academy and other players in the squad. With Merthyr & Pontypridd only releasing 4 players per side, Cardiff RFC are happy to provide the support the squad needs.
Cardiff’s scheduled pre-season games against St Peters and Glamorgan Wanderers this weekend and Bedwas a week on Friday will go ahead with the fantastic support we always have with local clubs providing players in certain positions.
The games against ST Peters & Glam Wanderers kicks off at 2pm at Sterling Rd on Saturday. The Bedwas game will take place on Friday 30th Aug at Bridge Field at 7pm
