Antony Ellis

Cardiff RFC have been saddened by the news that Antony Ellis passed away earlier this week after a long illness, leaving his wife of over 30 years, two children and grandchildren.

Antony arrived at the Arms Park from Ynysybwl RFC and mainly played for the Rags – making two senior appearances for Cardiff against Bangor (NI) and Bridgend during the 1985-6 season.

Condolences also to Antony’s brother Steve (Penry-Ellis).

The following information has been forwarded by Antony’s family.

The funeral will be held on Friday 6th September at 3.45pm at Glyntaff (“the time so that the boys can enjoy a good drink and recover over the week-end”). Antony requested that no black-ties be worn and that everyone that can should wear rugby jersey and jeans. If you are coming from playing for a different club then wear the shirt of your own club – he wanted as much variety as possible. After the funeral then everyone is invited to the rugby club to celebrate Antony’s wonderful life.

Family flowers only, but donations can be made to Macmillan Cancer Support and Rowan Tree Cancer Care.
