Cardiff RFC welcome Carmarthen Quins to the Cardiff Arms Park on Saturday afternoon as the Blue and Blacks look to make it five wins from five in Super Rygbi Cymru (KO: 14:30).
Dan Fish’s side head into the encounter against the Quins after an impressive 59-14 win over Ebbw Vale RFC, where Cardiff dominated the second half after a tight opening 40 minutes.
Matty Young, who will make his United Rugby Championship debut on Saturday in Dublin against Leinster (KO: 19:45), scored twice as did winger Dewi Cross. Alun Rees, Tom Cottle, Joe Cowell, Sion Davies, and Joe Goodchild also crossed the whitewash.
Outside-half Lloyd Lucas slotted ten points from the tee, while replacement Ben Coomer added four, helping the Blue and Blacks earn back-to-back six-point bonus-points and move into second place in the Super Rugby Cymru league table.
The Quins head to the Welsh capital following a 52-24 defeat against Newport RFC, although before then they did pick up their first victory of the season against Swansea RFC at Carmarthen Park.
Saturday’s third home game of Cardiff’s 150th season is a repeat of the opening fixture of Cardiff’s first game of the 2026/27 season, when Fish’s side claimed a hard-fought 27-17 victory in West Wales.
Since then, the Blue and Blacks have also beaten Swansea (49-35) and Pontypool (43-5), and will aim to deliver another impressive performance come Saturday afternoon.

Pre-Match Thoughts:
Speaking ahead of the encounter against the Quins, head coach Fish said: “Good positive start to the season with some good performances.
“Being back at the Cardiff Arms Park is massive for us and another chance to continue our momentum.
“We had a great performance last week against Ebbw Vale and want to build on that. We had a tough game against the Quins away in our first game of the season.
“We know what threats they pose and we have worked hard this week on nullifying them.
“We are fully focused on the Quins, as we know if you don’t turn up each week and put the effort and game plan on the field, you will come away with a loss.
“The Quins beat us here last season, and we want to make sure that doesn’t happen again on Saturday.”
Remember the last meeting at the Cardiff Arms Park?
The last meeting between the two sides in Cardiff saw the Blue and Blacks record a 50-33 victory in the SRC play-off quarter-finals.
Elijah Evans and Harri Wilde both scored twice that afternoon, while Lucas de la Rua, Ethan Lloyd and Dewi Cross also crossed the whitewash, with the win booking Cardiff a spot in the semi-finals.
However, the last regular-season meeting saw the Quins secure a dramatic 36-33 win after an Ellis Price late penalty kick.
That evening in September last year, after a 374-mile round-trip to Colwyn Bay to face Rygbi Gogledd Cymru (RGC) five days earlier, the Blue and Blacks crossed the whitewash on five occasions, compared to the Quins’ four.
Winger Dewi Cross claimed a brace and was accompanied by scores from Tom Cottle, Gavin Parry and Rhodri Morgan, with Lloyd Lucas adding eight points from the tee.
