Captain’s Corner: Craig Hudd Previews Bridgend Ravens Meeting

Cardiff RFC entertain Bridgend Ravens at the Cardiff Arms Parks tomorrow afternoon (KO: 15:15) in the Blue and Blacks’ final home match of 2025.

They enter the contest off the back of an impressive and much needed away victory against Carmarthen Quins last Thursday live on S4C.

It was the first time since Dan Fish’s side put aside Llandovery RFC 37-28 that they returned to winning ways at Carmarthen Park.

“It’s great to get back to winning ways,” began captain Craig Hudd who is joined by Tom Cottle in the second row who captained Wales U20s to a 43-28 at the Wern, Merthyr last week.

“Coming out on the right side of a tight game was a real boost to the team. It has definitely put some added confidence back in the group.

“We always believed in what we are doing so it’s nice to see that come to fruition.”

Saturday is the first of two festive derbies between Cardiff and the Ravens. The last time Bridgend were at the Arms Parks it finished 31-19 in favour of the Blue and Blacks.

Tomorrow afternoon’s visitors enter the encounter off the back of a tough 47-15 loss against Ebbw Vale and haven’t recorded a win in Super Rygbi Cymru since October 4th.

But their last triumph came in a visit to the Talbot Athletic Ground, a ground that the Blue and Blacks will head to kick off 2026 against Aberavon.

“We know that Bridgend are a good outfit,” continued Hudd.

“They always push us in games and we’ve had great battles with them over the last few years.

“We’re excited for a tough match up especially with a few familiar faces in their side.

“We are looking to push hard over these next few games to really end the block on a high.

“We are looking forward to being back at home and with the added benefit of being shown on S4C we are keen to put our best foot forward and deliver a performance we can be proud of.”
