Cardiff RFC tomorrow afternoon returns to Super Rygbi Cymru (SRC) action as they face Pontypool RFC at Pontypool Park (2:30 pm).
The Blue and Blacks enter the contest off the back of claiming a hard-fought 28-24 bonus-point triumph against Aberavon last time out.
On that afternoon, Captain Craig Hudd scored his first try of the season whilst hooker Evan Nicholls-Ngasseu claimed a brace with winger Joe Goodchild also scoring.
Saturday afternoon’s hosts, last timeout faced Swansea RFC at Dunvant RFC, as Pooler fell to their third consecutive loss.
Despite that, their last victory came against Cardiff at the Cardiff Arms Park, where Morgan Lloyd claimed a hat-trick on his 50th appearance in a thrilling first half.
Then former Cardiff RFC player and captain, Morgan Allen, also scored, which saw Pontypool claim the spoils 31-19.
With all that said, the Blue and Blacks head to Pontypool searching for a first win since October 2009.
Speaking ahead of the match, Craig Hudd said: “We are looking forward to the game at Pontypool and hopefully righting a few wrongs after our last performance against them
“Pontypool Park is always a tough place to play at.
“They have a strong following and are a team who always put up a real fight at home, so we are expecting nothing different this week.”
The narrow victory against Aberavon saw Cardiff move to second spot in the SRC table, five points ahead of Llandovery RFC in third and 15 points off league leaders Ebbw Vale on 71 points.
Following facing Pooler, the Blue and Blacks head to Church Bank to face the Drovers before hosting Newport RFC and facing Swansea at Broadacre, home of Dunvant RFC.
On the remaining fixtures of the regular season, but also on the excitement of the challenges ahead, Hudd added: “We’ve spoken about it as a group this week, and all you can do is focus on each game week.
“A lot can change in terms of results over the next few weeks, so there’s no point in looking too far in front.
“Each game provides a different challenge, and this week’s task is dealing with the challenge of Pontypool at their home ground.”
