Pontypool RFC – Cardiff RFC Team News

After returning to winning ways last time out, Cardiff RFC travel to Pontypool Park as they face Pontypool RFC in Super Rygbi Cymru (KO: 2:30 pm).

Cardiff ended a four-game losing streak, as they were made to work to put aside Aberavon narrowly, 28-24, at the Talbot Athletic Ground.

On that day, in his first league start for the Blue and Blacks, Evan Nicholls-Ngasseu brilliantly scored a brace, with captain Craig Hudd and winger Joe Goodchild also crossing.

Harri Wilde slotted six points from the tee as Matty Young added two to secure the hard-fought bonus-point victory.

Pooler head in the contest following a narrow 20-18 loss to Swansea RFC at Broadacre, home of Dunvant RFC.

The last win for Pontypool came at the Cardiff Arms Park, when they claimed the spoils 31-19 in the SRC Cup.

Pre-Match Thoughts:

Speaking ahead of the meeting, head coach Dan Fish said: “Expecting another tough game Saturday against Pontypool.

“The league table doesn’t tell the story, we know Pontypool are a much better team than the table shows.

“We had a good win last time out against Aberavon, and we know we will need a better performance come Saturday.

“We have worked on bits of our game that we think will make us an even harder team to play against, and hopefully that comes out on the weekend.”

Remember the last meeting at Pontypool Park?

The last time Fish’s side headed to Pontypool last April, where they were put aside 47-27 in an entertaining contest.

Nathan Hudd scored on his 80th appearance, with Joe Goodchild, Ethan Lloyd and Joe Williams also crossing, which meant the Blue and Blacks secured top spot of Super Rygbi Cymru despite a frustrating afternoon at Pontypool Park for Dan Fish’s men.
