Cardiff entertain Merthyr at the Arms Park on Saturday (14:30) looking to finish the Indigo Premiership Cup East fixtures on a high.
Already guaranteed at least second spot the Blue & Blacks will want to put pressure on leaders Newport who are two point ahead. That table finish was ensured following a record win at Sardis Rd last weekend when Cardiff ran in six tries in a 45-6 win.
Speaking ahead of the game Head Coach Steve Law said ‘it has been a really positive week in training following a good performance and win on Saturday last. This week there are lots of changes and several new faces to Cardiff fans. McKenzie Martin makes his senior debut and Harrison James is on the bench – both from the Cardiff Rugby Academy. Anthony Cox is another new name in Blue & Black and we are grateful as always to our local clubs for the permits, Glamorgan Wanderers for Anthony and Bedwas for Rory Harries.
This week will be a huge challenge against a mature and physical Merthyr side who we narrowly lost to at the Wern earlier in the season. We be looking to put that result right but will need to play our game and not be dragged into playing theirs. This is hugely talented and exciting team and they will have to gel quickly to give us the synergy in the side, something we feel they are very capable of doing’
