Our congratulations go to Gethin Jenkins on being added to Wayne Pivac’s coaching team with Wales. For the last couple of years Gethin has been coaching within the Cardiff Blues academy and Cardiff RFC, following his retirement from playing in 2018.
He has worked with both the age-grade and senior sides at the Arms Park and more recently he has been defence coach for Wales U20.
Thirty-nine year old Jenkins, who is one of Wales’ most decorated former players having amassed 129 caps for his country, won four Six Nations including three Grand Slams and toured with the British & Irish Lions on three occasions, will now link with the national squad on a full-time basis.
Gethin thanked Cardiff coach Steve Law for giving him the opportunity to experience preparing a team on a week to week basis.
In the Welsh set-up he replaces Cardiff Blues, Wales and Lions legend, Sam Warburton, who has left his position due to other commitments, as a breakdown and defence specialist.
