Tomorrow afternoon, Cardiff RFC takes on Carmarthen Quins at the Cardiff Arms Park. That contest will also see Nathan Hudd play his 100th game for the Blue and Blacks.
“It’s a massive honour to get to 100 caps for the club,” began the back-row forward.
“Just incredibly proud that I’ve had the chance to hit this milestone. There’s been plenty of highs and lows over the years, but I would definitely have to say winning the Cup next door at the Principality is right at the top of the list.
“Having my 100th appearance at home is the icing on the cake, really, and will be a day I certainly won’t forget.”
Head coach Dan Fish said: “A special mention to Nathan Hudd, who plays his 100th game for Cardiff on Saturday, a player you would want on your side.
“A great achievement for him, one which I’m sure he and his family are proud of, and we want to make sure it’s one to remember.”
Nathan, the twin brother of Captain Craig Hudd, was a product of the Dragons Academy system and played club rugby for Newport RFC, Cross Keys RFC, and Bedwas RFC.
He joined Cardiff in the 2019/20 season, where he made his debut against Llanelli RFC. Nathan will join Alun Rees and Sean Moore, who also made their 100th appearances this season.
He now sits among an illustrious list of players to reach a remarkable milestone for Cardiff RFC.
Hudd started off his time at the Arms Park side inexperienced, but nowadays he’s been one of a number of experienced players who are helping nurture the younger players in their embryonic stages in Fish’s squad.
“I think my role has changed a lot over the years,” he continued.
“Joining at 22 years old surrounded by far more experienced Prem players, it was more about learning from them.
“Whereas now I’d like to think the roles have probably reversed slightly.”
On Saturday, he’s joined in the back-row by Ben Fry and Lucas de la Rua, as head coach Fish made four changes to his side’s starting XV, which claimed a 36-19 victory against Swansea RFC, at Broadacre, Dunvant RFC.
The regular season champions, after a remarkable nine-game winning streak, will face off against the Quins for a semi-final spot in the Welsh capital.
“It’s always a tough game against Carmarthen, and it’s knock-out rugby, so it will definitely be a good encounter,” he concluded.
