We have just received the very sad news that former player Paul Barry passed away very suddenly last Sunday at the age of 72.
Paul played in the Back Row at the Club from 1969 – 1974 during which time he played 13 games for the 1st XV and gained his Rags Cap in the 69-70 season before a serious illness put his Rugby Career on hold for 2 seasons.
Paul had an outstanding Schools and Youth Rugby Career playing 22 games for Cardiff Schools and 3 seasons for Cardiff Youth and captained them in 1968. He also enjoyed 2 seasons with the Welsh Youth Squad.
Whilst at Cardiff, Paul made many friends and was a very popular and respected member of the Club and after leaving Cardiff he played for 2 seasons at Penarth and then at St. Peters where he also captained the side for 3 seasons.
After his playing days he became a loyal member and supporter of the Cardiff Former Players Association.
Paul will be sadly missed by all who knew him and we extend our sincere condolences to his wife Cath and all his family at this very sad time.
