Owen James (Jem) Evans was born in Cardiff in 1867. In four seasons at the Arms Park (between 1884 and 1888) he played 61 games. Evans was one of the earliest half-backs to play for Wales and was awarded four caps in 1887 and 1888, although never with the same partner. His first international was against England on January 8th 1887 at Llanelli in the Home Championship and his other caps were against Scotland in the same year and Scotland and Ireland the following year.
A Marine Engineer by trade he died in 1942 in Griffithstown, Pontypool at the age of 75.
