Merthyr born Kristian Dacey was educated at Bishop Hedley School and Neath Port Talbot College. He found his way into rugby at the age of 16 playing with the Merthyr age grade division and soon found himself playing for Blues North. In 2007 - 08 he was playing for Merthyr and the Cardiff Blues U20s side before joining elder brother Gavin at Pontypridd. In 2010 he changed his position to hooker and Cardiff Blues gave him a senior contract with the proviso he would play Premiership rugby with Cardiff. He made 9 appearances with the club side before becoming a regular with the senior squad.
