Born in Bridgend, Porthcawl prop Tommy Danter had a trial for Cardiff at the start of the 1948-9 season. On Saturday 4th September 1946 he played for Bridgend and a couple of days later he was in the Cardiff side that played against Northampton. He turned out for Bridgend on a number of occasions over the next few weeks, but at the end of October he joined rugby league side Hull. After a few seasons at Hull (for whom he appeared 77 times) he joined Dewsbury. In seven seasons at Crown Flatt he appeared 167 times, scoring eight tries and in 1956 moved back to Hull – this time with Hull Kingston Rovers. Danter was selected for Wales RL on five occasions, but only winning four caps as he missed one game through an untimely suspension..
He passed away in Newport in September 1980 aged 57.
