Johnny Rodgers was born in Abergwynfi in October 1892 and later lived in Tondu. First playing for his hometown club of Bridgend he moved to Cardiff in the 1911 - 12 season and according to club records made 35 first team appearances.
On first March 1913 at the age of 20 he moved North and signed for Huddersfield followed by Wakefield in 1925. He gained 3 Welsh Rugby League caps and 7 for Great Britain between 1914 -1922. When he retired from the game, he continued to live in Huddersfield and became a Licensee.
He died in July 1958 aged 65.
