Frank Wilson was born in Cardiff in 1944 and played on the wing for Cardiff on 37 occasions (scoring 22 tries) between 1964 and 1968. After four seasons at the Arms Park, Wilson was persuaded to sign professional forms for St Helens – for whom he scored 176 tries in a 310 game career at Knowsley Road. In 1976 he signed for Workington Town, also playing for Warrington, Salford, Cardiff City Blue Dragons and Bridgend Blue Dragons before retiring.
One of only a handful of Welsh players to have scored more than 200 tries in their rugby league career, Frank later coached rugby league at the University of Manchester.
