RGC 1404 – Cardiff team news

Cardiff begin the defence of the WRU National Cup with a tough trip to North Wales on Saturday.

Having started the Indigo Premiership on Friday with a last minute win over Pontypridd the Blue & Blacks will be looking to build on that win.

Head Coach Steve Law said of the game “it was a great way to start the new Premiership season in terms of the result. There are obviously things we need to work on but there were a lot of good things too. To show the composure at the end was a big plus. 21 phases before scoring the try and Joe Scrivens keeping his nerve mean the best start to what will be a very competitive league this season, maybe we just don’t need too many finishes like that.”

“After winning the Cup last season we are really looking forward to defending our title. It was a great run, culminating in a great day at the Stadium. But we know we have our work cut out. RGC away is one of the toughest places to go. Add to that the fact that they will be on a high having defeated Merthyr last week and we know we will have to be at our very best if we want to progress.”

“The side shows several changes from last week. We picked up a few injuries and there are a few players unavailable this week, but we are Cup Champions and really want a repeat of that feeling again this season”.
