Cardiff travel to Rodney Parade to play oldest rivals Newport on Friday night (19:15)
This will be the 428th meeting between the two clubs, but the first since December 2019. The Indigo Cup season started well for the Blue & Blacks with a bonus point win last weekend. Speaking ahead of the game Head Coach Steve Law said “there are seven changes in the starting line from last weekend and five changes on the bench, that shows the healthy competition there is within the squad. They all know that their performance will count towards selection through the season and a visit to Rodney Parade on a Friday night is a huge opportunity to stake a claim.
We will be looking to repeat the good things we did against RGC, it was a very physical game for 50 minutes, but I thought we played some superb rugby in the last half hour and deserved to pull away at the end.
We need to make ourselves hard to beat and have a great work ethic and the coaching team have been working hard on that over the last couple of weeks. I want to put on record my thanks to them for the hard work both the coaching and management team have put in over the last couple of months, we have come together really well as a group since the beginning of the season and I’m looking forward to that continuing to grow”
