Aberavon RFC – Cardiff RFC Team News

Cardiff RFC open 2026 with a trip to the Talbot Athletic Ground as they face Aberavon on Saturday afternoon (KO: 14:30).

The Blue and Blacks enter the contest off the back of recording two consecutive six-point bonus-point victories against Bridgend Ravens.

Last timeout, Ioan Emanuel scored in the first half, and this was accompanied by second-half crosses from Alun Rees, Ben Fry, Iwan Stephens, and Steff Emanuel, as Harri Wilde slotted eight points from the tee.

That result saw Cardiff climb back above Carmarthen Quins into third place in the Super Rygbi Cymru (SRC) table, as there is now only six points separating the Blue and Blacks from Llandovery in second.

The Wizards’ last timeout ended their 2025 with a 31-21 defeat against Swansea, which was the Whites’ first league double over Aberavon in 30 years.

“We know what game we want to play on Saturday, and it’s about us getting our details right to give ourselves the best opportunity.

“Like to wish all our supporters and sponsors a happy new year and see you all soon.”

Remember the last meeting at the Talbot Athletic Ground?

The last time the Blue and Blacks travelled to Aberavon was back in March. That day saw Cardiff boost their SRC home advantage play-off hopes with a dominant victory.

Tries from Joe Williams and Nathan Hudd were accompanied by braces from Matty Young and Joe Goodchild, and an early penalty try guided the Blue and Blacks to a 44-22 win against the Wizards.
